The Municipality of Skydra is located in the southern part of the Regional Unit of Pella and is one of the most important rural municipalities of Macedonia. Known for the production of high quality peaches, cherries and other fruits, the Municipality of Skydra is characterized by fertile plains, modern agricultural infrastructure and a dynamic commercial sector. With an area of approximately 120 sq km and a population of 16,381 inhabitants (2011 census), the area has a rich historical and cultural heritage. The city of Skydra, the capital of the municipality, is an administrative, economic and cultural centre, while its railway connection reinforces its role as a commercial hub of Central Macedonia.
