3 Generations – Thomaidis Bros
The “3 Generations” winery of the Thomaidis family, based in Piperia, Aridaia, is a living example of the long winemaking tradition of the region. Its history begins in 1936, when the family acquired its first vineyards in the Pozar region. The first variety they cultivated was Amassi, which took its name from the city of Amassia in Pontus, where the family’s ancestors came from.
Over the years, the family expanded its cultivations, adding international varieties such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the Greek variety Xinomavro. In 1999, the traditional distillery of the family was founded, which produces high quality tsipouro, respecting the tradition. In 2014, the winery “3 Genies” entered dynamically into the wine map with its own labels, utilizing the production from its privately owned vineyards.
The family’s vineyards are located in the region of Pozar, known for its special microclimate. The clay and sandy soils, combined with the large temperature variations between day and night during the summer period, contribute to the production of wines with intense aromatic characteristics, cool acidity and a sweet aftertaste, even without residual sugars.
The winery “3 Genies” cooperates with the experienced oenologist Vassilis Marinos, carrying out experimental vinifications and exploring the potential of cultivating the varieties in the region. In addition, it is the main winery where research is carried out, according to European Union standards, on the Amassi variety by the Department of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The Thomaidis family continues to invest in quality and tradition, offering unique wines that reflect their love for nature and respect for their history and roots.
