Every October, as the sun sets, Edessa is transformed. Its streets, crisscrossed by rivers and canals, come alive under the city lights and hundreds of runners and walkers become one with the sound of water. This is the Edessa Night Water Run, a sporting celebration that combines the history, culture and unique beauty of the capital of Pella.

Starting and finishing at the iconic Small Waterfalls, the event is not just a race, but an institution dedicated to the city’s freedoms, with the slogan “I Run Freely, I Think Freely, I Create Freely.”

A Mobile Celebration in the Heart of the City

The Night Waterway is a bonding experience. Local clubs, volunteers, schools, residents and visitors create an amazing atmosphere, all running together on a route that highlights the most beautiful parts of Edessa. Your participation is not only an athletic act, but also a gesture of solidarity, as part of the proceeds are allocated to support the Edessa Nursing Home.

The Magical Night Route

The 5-kilometer route is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone. It is flat, paved and takes you on a journey through a dreamlike setting:

• Start at the illuminated Small Waterfalls.
• Follow the pedestrian paths next to the canals that flow through the city.
• Walk through the historic and picturesque district of Varosi, feeling the aura of another era.

Participation Information & Benefits

• Registration: Participation declarations are made electronically on the official website of the Municipality of Edessa (www.edessacity.gr). Secure your place in time with the preferential cost of 6.00€. There is also the possibility of registering on the day of the race at a cost of 10.00€ (if there are places available).
• Safety: The organization provides full health coverage and the Edessa Traffic Police ensures the safety of the runners.
• Awards: All participants who finish receive a beautiful commemorative medal. The first three winners of each category are awarded, while young and old athletes with significant distinctions are also honored.
