Aeropos Edessa Cycling Club Ascent of Kaimaktsalan by bike

The Cycling Club “Aeropos Edessa” has established the Kaimaktsalan ascent by bike as one of the most impressive and demanding sporting events of the region. Every year, dozens of athletes from all over Greece participate in this endurance challenge, which starts from Edessa or Loutra Pozar and ends at high altitude, on the slopes of Mount Voras (Kaimaktsalan).

The route is characterized by continuous uphill, alternating natural landscapes and unique views, making it an ideal experience for mountain and road cycling enthusiasts. “Aeropos” organizes the action with exemplary safety, signage, refueling stations and a dynamic presence of volunteers. At the same time, the event contributes to the promotion of the region as a destination for sports and nature tourism.

It is a unique opportunity for the participants to test their strengths, but also for the visitors to get to know the magnificent mountain and the hospitality of Edessa.

The Cycling Club “Aeropos Edessa” is today one of the most important sports clubs of the region:

• It was founded in the last 3-4 years and has distinguished itself in a very short time, highlighting many times champions at the level of Macedonia and Thrace.
• It has one of the most active cycling academies in Greece, with organized programs for children under the guidance of specialized coaches, who promote technique, team spirit, respect for the environment and proper driving behavior.
• He actively participates in national and local races, such as mountain climbs and time and endurance races. Indeed, it has categorically organized the inter-club race “7th Kaimaktsalan Ascent” (September 2024), while its athletes have excelled in endurance races 30 km. and 102 km. in Xanthi.
• In 2023 he survived by racing in important events, such as MTB in Metsovo (Meteora MTB Race – with positions in 1st to 3rd place) and intercollegiate races in Florina.
